  • How frequently should I schedule lawn maintenance services?
For Michigan residents, regular lawn maintenance is typically recommended every week during the growing season.
  • How do I prepare my lawn for professional services?
Clear the lawn of toys, debris, and obstacles. Ensure gates are accessible, and pets are secured indoors during scheduled services.
  • How do you handle inclement weather affecting scheduled services?
We have contingency plans for weather disruptions and will reschedule services promptly to ensure your lawn care needs are met.
  • What is your policy on handling lawn diseases or pest infestations?
We have protocols for identifying and addressing lawn diseases or pests, including treatment plans and preventive measures.
  • How do you determine pricing for services, and are there any hidden fees?
Pricing is based on factors such as lawn size, services required, and frequency. We provide transparent pricing and discuss any potential additional fees upfront.
  • Do I have to be home at time of service?
No, we will complete your work during normal business hours.
  • What is the proper height to cut my grass?
The general rule you should follow is to not cut more than one third of the blade of grass off at any one time. If you cut the lawn once each week, that will usually comply with that guideline. One of the most common mistakes people make when cutting their grass is to cut it too low. The kinds of grasses found in Michigan lawns are meant to be cut at heights of 2.5-3.5 inches tall. If they are routinely cut lower than that they will not be as healthy and may begin to thin out and die.
  • When is the best time to fertilize my lawn?
Fertilize in early spring and late fall for cool-season grasses, and late spring to early summer for warm-season grasses.
  • What is aeration, and how often should I do it?
Aeration involves perforating the soil with small holes to allow air, water, and nutrients to penetrate the grass roots. Do it annually for cool-season grasses and every 2-3 years for warm-season grasses.
  • How do I repair bare patches in my lawn?
Rake the area, add topsoil, seed, and cover with straw. Keep the area consistently moist until the grass is established.
  • What should I do with the clippings left in my yard?
We like to encourage our customers to allow the grass clippings to remain on the lawn. With the restrictions on yard waste disposal and the benefits your lawn will receive, allowing the grass clippings to stay on the lawn makes good sense. The grass blades will not contribute to thatch because they all decompose within about six weeks, adding about five percent more fertilizer to the soil!
